Material

  • Coloured printed fabrics
  • Predominantly brown fabric
  • Clothespins (different sizes)
  • Odif Fabric Booster
  • Odif Odicoat
  • Wooden chopstick or skewer
  • 1 flat short bristle brush
  • Iron

Step 1

Step 1
  • Impregnate the printed fabrics with the Odif Fabric Booster.
  • Smooth and let air dry.
  • Iron the still damp fabrics to erase the folds.

TIP: For faster drying: Cover fabric with a piece of parchment paper and iron dry.

  • Transfer the butterfly template  (3 sizes) to the fabric.
  • Mark the lines for the folds. (Use a hot erase pen.)
  • Cut out.

  • Fold the wings in accordion by following the mark lines.
  • Crease the folds by crushing them with an iron (which will erase the marks).
  • Glue the creased butterfly  in the center on both sides.
  • Pinch the center with a clothespin and let dry.

  • Unfold the wings and glue each butterfly in the center of a clothespin.

  • For the body of the butterflies, cut a triangle using the corresponding template.
  • Coat the fabric with a thin layer of Odicoat, then wrap the fabric around a wooden skewer.
  • Remove the skewer and coat the pearl with the Odicoat.

  • Glue the body of the butterfly in the center of the wings.

The butterflies can be placed on a lampshade, in a bouquet, on branches previously sprayed with Odif Spray Gesso and possibly varnished with Odif Spray Glitter varnish or even used as a glass decoration.
