Material

  • Child cape pattern(this is Mc Call’s 7460)
  • Printed fabric (film according to the size indicated in the pattern)
  • Lining fabric (minky or jersey for comfort)
  • 1 m ribbon or cord
  • Matching wire
  • Odif Odicoat
  • Odif Fabric Booster
  • Odif 101 Multimedia Adhesive
  • Flat glue brush
  • Transparent Kam pressures and Kam clamp
  • Sewing scissors
  • Sewing pliers
  • Parchment paper
  • Iron

 

Step 1

  • Coat the printed fabric with a layer of Odif Odicoat using a card.
  • Smooth the surface with the flat brush.Let dry for about 20 min.
  • Repeat 2 times to obtain 3 coats.

Tip
Protect the work surface (table) with several layers of stretchable film that can be discarded after use.

  • Iron the entire surface of the printed fabric by protecting the sole of the iron with parchment paper to secure the Odif Odicoat.

  • Cut the different parts of the pattern according to the chosen size and spray the back with the Odif 101 Multimedia adhesive.
  • Glue the pattern to the folded fabric in 2.

  • Cut the different parts of the cape according to the pattern.

  • Spray the Odif Fabric Booster on the surface of the lining fabric to stabilize it (it will deform much less during sewing).
  • Cut the different parts of the lining using the pattern as shown in step 3.
  • Cutting slightly smaller (about 0.5 cm at the seams and 2 cm at the hem)

  • Assemble the cape starting with the back seam and then the shoulders.
  • Repeat the same operation with the liner.

Step 7

  • Assemble the 2 parts of the cape hood and repeat the same for the lining.

  • Assemble the hood to the neckline of the cape.
  • Repeat the same operation with the liner.

  • Superimpose the hood of the cape and the hood of the lining, right side together, and fasten them with the seam clamps.
  • Assemble the edges of the hood.
  • Turn over and stitch 1 cm from the edge of the hood.

  •  Thread a ribbon or cord to tighten the hood.

  • Sew the hem on the front and bottom of the cape.

  • Place a press stud on the wrists.

  • Place 4 or 5 press stud along the front of the cape.
